Jarrett Arthur Releases Instructional Self-Defense Program Designed Specifically for Mothers

Los Angeles, CA (April 16, 2014) – Renowned self-defense expert, Jarrett Arthur, has launched her first at-home instructional DVD, “Don’t Mess With M.A.M.A. – The Foundation,” available since January 16, 2014. The 35-minute, step-by-step self-defense program is the first of its kind, providing realistic, effective, and easy to execute strategies for mothers and child caregivers on how to protect themselves and their children.

An acronym for “Mothers Against Malicious Acts,” the M.A.M.A. Self-Defense Program was created for all ages, levels of experience, and physical abilities. Based on the Israeli system of self-defense, Krav Maga, the curriculum focuses on strikes to vulnerable areas, defensive moves utilizing instinctive responses, and no-nonsense aggression. Designed to work even in the face of dramatic disadvantages in size, weight and strength, the program is concise and to the point, teaching mothers life saving self-defense skills quickly and efficiently.

Don’t Mess With M.A.M.A. – The Foundation DVD dials in on three key areas specific to mothers and child caregivers, teaching ways to prepare and protect oneself, as well as children in their care, against the threat of violence and cruelty:

  1. Protect yourself and your kids through risk reduction strategies, awareness training, mental preparation, and physical techniques.
  2. Educate your children wisely by learning what to teach them about personal safety when they are with you and when they are on their own.
  3. Learn how to effectively transfer that knowledge to your kids through age-appropriate conversations, exercises, and games in a fun, safe, and encouraging manner.

Jarrett explains: “It’s an interesting and problematic dichotomy; remain closely focused on your child to be supportive and attentive, while maintaining vigilance and an expanded focus to increase environmental awareness in order to assess and reduce risk. How do you achieve the status of nurturer and protector at the same time when you’re out in the world with your child? With a little education, a little training, and a strategic game plan, the problem becomes simplified.”

Don’t Mess With M.A.M.A – The Foundation DVD is currently available for purchase at www.MAMASelfDefense.com for $17.95. Check out the trailer for Don’t Mess With M.A.M.A. – The Foundation DVD here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ir2nbCdR3U

About Jarrett Arthur

Jarrett Arthur is the founder and chief instructor of Jarrett Arthur Customized Self-Defense. When she stumbled upon Krav Maga (Israeli Self-Defense) it was a life changing experience. Despite being a nationally-ranked athlete growing up, insecurities and self-doubt fostered a childhood laden with anxiety, depression, and bullies. Jarrett carried that mindset into young adulthood…until she began training in self-defense. With each new skill she acquired, she achieved greater confidence and an overwhelming sense of empowerment. It was this transformation in herself that led to Jarrett’s passion helping others transform through self-defense training as well.

One of the highest ranking female Krav Maga black belts in the U.S., Jarrett comes armed with years of teaching experience. She has taught hundreds of men, women, and children over the course of her 10 year teaching career, and has been featured on Ellen, Access Hollywood, Good Day LA, KTLA News, ABC NY News, NBC San Diego News, in Fitness Magazine, the New York Times, Forbes.com, and more.

Jarrett Arthur Receives “Courageous Woman” Award at Safe Passage’s 14th Annual Gala: Courageous Women & Mothers Who Make A Difference

Los Angeles, CA (May 4, 2014) – Renowned self-defense and safety expert, Jarrett Arthur, has been honored with the “Courageous Woman” award at Safe Passage’s 14th Annual Gala: Courageous Women & Mothers Who Make A Difference. Acknowledged for her outstanding work of creating a personalized self-defense program for all mothers and women in charge of caring for children, Jarrett promotes a shift in the way that women are able to protect themselves and their families.

Safe Passage, a haven for victims of domestic violence, helps survivors along their journey by providing hope, opportunity, and empowerment to victims while giving them stability, self-confidence and the life tools to develop a deep personal love for themselves and, in turn, the courage to give back to others. Aligning with Safe Passage’s mission to empower women, Jarrett is an advocate of providing women with the resources that increase personal safety and confidence through self-defense training.

“It was truly an honor to be recognized for my work by an organization that is taking courageous action to end domestic violence,” says Jarrett, founder of M.A.M.A. (Mothers Against Malicious Acts) Self-Defense. “Communication and education are critical elements to protecting yourself, and I am grateful to pass that knowledge along to women everywhere.”

Spearheading the initiative to create a self-defense program solely focused on women, mothers, and children, Jarrett recently released her first at-home instructional DVD, “Don’t Mess With M.A.M.A. – The Foundation.” The DVD is a 35-minute, step-by-step self-defense program and the first of its kind, providing realistic, effective, and easy to execute strategies for mothers and child caregivers on how to protect themselves and their children.
